A metal cladding facade is something that many Melburnians are incorporating into their renovations and new construction projects.
The new legislation that took effect in Australia on August 15, 2018, strongly encourages all building owners/operators who have an aluminum façade cladding system to undergo an inspection and assess its condition.
Cladding Safety Victoria was established by the Victorian Government to provide assistance and advice to building owners and occupants of structures with flammable cladding, particularly when repair work is required to reduce hazards to an acceptable level. Its mission is to reduce the risk of fire and explosion in buildings with flammable cladding.
Following a statewide investigation by the VBA, it uncovered hundreds of buildings with combustible cladding in some form or another. Because each structure is unique, Cladding Safety Victoria will collaborate with the building's owners to determine the most appropriate solution for that particular structure. It is anticipated that the project will take at least five years to complete due to the complexity of the undertaking.
Cladding Safety Victoria will provide advice on how to reduce the chance of a fire occurring, aid owners in obtaining trained project managers and other professionals, and, in high-risk circumstances, fund the work that has been permitted. Among the possible expenditures are funds for the following items:
